If one uses Search Builder to create a search (I used IN operators), then saves search using the New Smart Group action,  then deletes the Group under Manage Group, there are records in civicrm_mapping, civicrm_mapping_field, and civicrm_saved_search, though the civicrm_group record is deleted. I'm not sure, but it also appears that there are circular foreign key references between civicrm_mapping and civicrm_saved_search, preventing the records from deleting. But perhaps there are reasonable use cases for not deleting the saved search underlying the Smart Group that I'm not thinking of.
