Moving a Custom Field to a Different Data Group
August 12, 2009, 01:19:09 pm
Good news: I actually now understand what the "custom data group" concept is and how it can be useful.

:(Bad news: Now I want to move some existing custom fields into some new groups that I've created. I want to move those fields with their data.

Is it possible to move an existing field to a different data group?

Thanks,

Shai Gluskin

It is possible to do so, but there is no code that does it currently. Would be a great contribution and i suspect a few people could use it :)

I'd probably start this off as a standalone script. If you are a coder, you can contact us on IRC and we can get you going. If not, you might want to consider sponsoring someone to do the needed work. I suspect it will be a 20 project or so ...

Thanks for the response Lobo.

I'm a very slow coder and need to pick my projects carefully; this won't be it.

What do you mean by a "20" project.

I'd likely be a co-sponsor if there are others interested.

Best,

Shai

In case anyone else found this post trying to figure out how to do this click the more option and select move while looking at the fields in a specific group.
