Importing problem at matching fields step. No custom fields already prepared
August 13, 2009, 07:36:16 am
Hi, one another questio, now about importing and some problems with that.

I want to import a database, to custom data group (with some custom fields) but when I'm at the second step (matching fields) there are no custom fields that I have prepared in custom data group to match civicrm fields. What's wrong? Please help!

I don't quite understand what you are trying to do. To create custom fields, go to Administer CiviCRM and then Custom Data.

It sounds like you are lacking custom fields in CiviCRM, but I can't be sure without a more detailed description of what precisely you are trying to do.

to import custom data in civicrm
1. make sure u have created custom field which properly associated w/ entity ( eg Contact, Individual, Participant .. )
2. now when u try to import same entity w/ custom field data, you will definitely get all custom field to match.
(eg : Create custom data group used for 'Individual' add some custom fields. When you try to import individuals, all custom fields should be available to match.
But if u mismatch between import entity type and custom fields ie if importing 'Organization' records, u will never get 'Individual' custom fields to match )

hope this help

Thnx for reply,

That's how I did it :( and it still does not work.

Is it possible that it goes wrong because I choose "Tab" displey style in custom instead of "inline"?

Or mayby the problem is that custom fields are check boxes?

I don't think so.

make sure custom group and fields are active ( ie enabled )

can u try to empty your civicrm_cache table; ( run sql : TRUNCATE TABLE `civicrm_cache`  )

and try to import same data file and check u r custom fields ?

hope this help

Is multiple record support enabled for the custom group? Import/Profiles do not support custom group with multiple records

Arg - I just hit this one.  But thanks for the clarification - I'll find another way to import the records...
