I can't reproduce this on sandbox. I tested this also my localhost (PHP 5.2.10), but I can't reproduce this error on localhost. I think that this problem related to PHP 5.3.0.

PHP 5.3.0 is not supported at this time. we hope to support it before we hit the final / beta release

so we can track this problem, can you please file an issue. Please mention that this is potentially a 5.3.0 issue

Anyone know if joomla / drupal support PHP 5.3.0 as yet?

Note that drupal 6.x does not support 5.3 as yet. As such CiviCRM will not support  PHP v5.3 untill Drupal AND Joomla both can run on 5.3

Please downgrade to PHP 5.2.x

Drupal doesn't support PHP 5.3.0: http://drupal.org/node/360605
Joomla support this PHP version unofficially: http://community.joomla.org/blogs/community/990-testing-help-with-php-530.html

seems like we wont be offering 5.3 support for some time. I highly doubt that CiviCRM 3.0 will be tested with PHP 5.3

I fixed some returning value error which related this and I got one new error message:
Code: [Select]
Warning: Parameter 1 to CRM_Contact_Form_Edit_Organization::formRule() expected to be a reference, value given in /var/www/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/HTML/QuickForm.php on line 1591Lines 1588-1598 seems like this:
Code: [Select]
        // process the global rules now
        foreach ($this->_formRules as $value) {
            list($rule, $options) = $value;
            if (true !== ($res = call_user_func($rule, $this->_submitValues, $this->_submitFiles, $options))) {
                if (is_array($res)) {
                    $this->_errors += $res;
                } else {
                    return PEAR::raiseError(null, QUICKFORM_ERROR, null, E_USER_WARNING, 'Form rule callback returned invalid value in HTML_QuickForm::validate()', 'HTML_QuickForm_Error', t$
                }
            }
        }

Why? PHP 5.3 is stable now and The PHP development team recommend to use this version.

quoting myself from a prior post:

we will support it once both Drupal AND Joomla (the CMS'es that we work with) support PHP 5.3. I also suspect we will have to upgrade a fair number of the PEAR packages we use

if you think it is important we support it before that, please do submit a patch that fixes the problems that you encounter.
