How do I automate grouping based on an import field?

One of the many ways I keep track of contacts is by what I call "region." Depending on what state the contact lives in, he is part of one of four national regions. For example, if the contact is in California, he would be part of the Western District region group. How can I get CiviCRM to automatically put a contact into different region groups based on the imported "State" field?

Hi,
You can accomplish this by creating "smart groups". Here's a link to the documentation: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Smart+Groups.
