Locked out of Website (You are not authorized to access this page) error
August 16, 2009, 07:00:22 pm
Hi,

After much effort I managed to get CiviCRM installed onto the server and moved onto step 5 of the Drupal Installation Guide - Checking Permissions.  I went in and looked at the CiviCrm Permissions, made a couple of changes mostly around letting logged in users have more access and giving anonymous users pretty much no access (I can no longer remember what exactly I edited).  However after I made those changes I can no longer access anything on the drupal site (get the error mentioned in the subject every time I try to do any admin task on the site).  When I log in on the drupal login page, it just seems to reset itself.  I know the password is correct as when I log in using the wrong password the site comes up with an incorrect password error.  I try getting my password re-sent out but when I use the login link in the email I come back to the "you are not authorized to access this page error".  I tried creating a new user but the password for them never seemed to be sent out.

Any ideas for a way forward from here would be a fantastic help and I appreciate everything offered.

Regards,

John Curwood

You are not authorized to access this page
whats the url you see when you get this error.

If civicrm is present in the url (and you can navigate to other drupal pages without any problem), Login as admin and give all civicrm permissions to authenticated user for now. And once its working you can experiment by removing those permissions one by one and check.

If civicrm not present in the url and you can't navigate to any drupal pages either, means you don't know your password :)

Drupal also allow admin to set the password for any users. Reading any drupal documentation on "user registration" would help.

Also update your profile with civicrm/cms .. versions.
