Want to open in CiviCase Dashboard
August 17, 2009, 12:45:29 am
I have a clean Drupal install and a clean V3.0 install from the latest 2.2. I have no sample files configured. The only user is super admin logon.

1. Given that we may want to use all the other parts of CiviCRM we are starting with CiviCase. I am not anticipating the normal user will have the Black admin menu at the top.

Can I remove the Admin menu or should it be anticipated that it will be needed and if so how do I configure out those parts not required?

2. The only way I see to get to the Case dashboard is via that top menu "Other - Case - Dashboard". I want to configure the logon such that their Dashboard appears but that the remainder of the CRM is available in the main menu.

How is this configured?

3. When the system is started I get the "Main" dashboard. Even though I have one Case recorded all of the 4 section indicate I have no records (even Your Contacts / Organizations (last one) - . There are no related contacts / organizations on record for you..

Why can't I get to the CiviCase dashboard from this list?

4. We always need to enter a new contacts address (instead or with (unlikely) an email) and Tel. No. When a new case is started how can I configure the address/Tel. boxes to come up in the lightbox form (when the system discovers there is no contact for this Case) instead or with the emaill address field (is this maybe a custom field operation as I can't see how this may be done this way)? Otherwise we have a two stage process to deal with.

PS. I have created a new custom group and added a field to the New Case but I do not seem to be able to make this a proper address format AND I suspect this will only be data added to the case and not taken across to the Contact data - so I will have to go there to add the adress.

5. We have some 64 "Case types" so I apparently need to configure these for the Case Type field on the New Case form. Am I right in thinking to get all these case types installed I should create 64 times Administer - CiviCase - Case Types and then create 64 xml files under sites/all/civicrm/CRM/case/xml/configuration or will one file somehow deal with them all?

No, you cant do this currently. You can set various menu-submenu  links as per permissions to user but you cant totally hide the "Navigation Menu" .

Yes, you can do this by creating "New Menu Item".
Go to Administer CiviCRM > Customize > Navigation Menu and click on "New Menu Item". and create there as per your need. Dont select anything in 'parent' if you want your new menu item should be shown as main menu.
You can delete existing Case menu item by right click>delete.

When you create any Case, you become a Client of this Case and  roles get assigned as per Case Roles (specified in Case xml). Please refer  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMUPCOMING/Case+Roles+and+Relationships for more details.

Add required fields in civicrm profile New Individual in Administer CiviCRM>Customizes > CiviCRM Profiles.

Yes, you have to add manually all case types.
 http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMUPCOMING/CiviCase+Configuration#CiviCaseConfiguration-4.PopulateCaseTypes%2CActivityTypes%2CandCaseRoles  can help you.

Ah, what I meant was on the left side (not the top menu) there is a link "My Contact Dashboard". This does not seem to be a menu but an h2 heading. I want to add a menu item there called "My Case Dashboard".

a) why isn't this a menu list?
b) can I add a menu here properly?
c) will it dissappear on an upgrade?

If you are using drupal as CMS, you can create customized block with your link ( Case Dashboard ).

I'm not fully understanding the whole thread, but if you want the first page you see when you log in to be the case dashboard, just set this in Drupal at <site url>/admin/settings/site-information, where it says Default Front Page. By default it says "node", but you can change this to "civicrm/case".

This is what we do on our civicrm installation.
