We are a ‘not for profit’ sports club in the UK that has over 700 memberships comprising nearly 2000 individuals.  Membership is currently managed through an excel spreadsheet but during the 2009/10 season we would like to move towards a more automated solution for managing memberships, payments, events, communications and general membership administration.  

CiviCRM appears to have functionality and modules that will meet most, if not all, of our requirements and we would like to explore the opportunity to implement an ‘out of the box’ solution for the club.  At a high level here is what we would like to set up:

•   Accounts for members to access ‘private’ areas on the club Joomla web site
•   A contact database to track membership & individuals
•   Creation of interest groups for mailing & other club communications
•   Online membership signup / renewal and payment for events
•   Member access at front end to update and maintain their details
•   Ability to create standard newsletters & club communications
•   Basic reporting for memberships, events and volunteers

The back end functionality of CiviCRM should not need any customisation, only configuration.  We envisage that any customisation will be limited to the front end for membership sign up, renewal and account updates.

The club has a web site running on Joomla 1.5.8 & PHP 5.1.6
