CiviEvent - have I been barking up the wrong tree ?
August 17, 2009, 11:37:53 pm
Hi there

Whilst I have already installed CiviCRM and worked through a number of issues along the way I'm beginning to question whether CiviEvents will fulfill my needs ?

I'm wanting to setup a paid-for event using the eWay payment processor, and during the registration process ask the prospective attendees some questions (custom data fields) ?

I can get a "simple" event without custom data questions to work with eWay but I cannot insert questions into the mix. Is this functionality possible ?

If CiviCRM cannot do this, then any suggestions on other recommended Joomla extensions for paid-for events ?

Thanks

All you need to do is create a profile with the desired custom fields (questions that you intend to ask the participants while registering) and then embed this profile in the Online Registration configuration for the Event (Configure Event >> Online Registration >> Include Profiles).

You might want to check Collecting and Exposing Data chapter of the online book "Understanding CiviCRM" - http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/CapturingExposing for better understanding.
