Remote contributions?
August 19, 2007, 08:34:08 pm
I have been installing ver 1.7 of civiCRM and can't seem to find a feature I thought I saw in a prior release during testing. ???

The feature allowed me to take a generated donation page and strctured it in such a way that I could just include it as part of a page outside of civiCRM such as a regular Drupal CMS node or maybe even another domain. I could take the code from the page and cut & paste it to the page I wanted to place it on.

I am dreaming or did/does such a function exist? If it does still exist, where is it located? I can't seem to find it any more. I can create a regular donation page that is part of the civiCRM structure but can't find that "Remote contribution" option

I dont think that feature ever existed :( That feature exists with profiles since they are essentially one page forms. A contribution form on the other hand is three pages and hence a bit more difficult

Note that you can use your own templates to format the look and feel of the form. Details at:

Dang :'(  It sounded so good too.

I was trying to think of a way to sneak in a bit of civiCRM(to the old static site) while the client did some debating over updates to the theme before implementing the Drupal base.

Guess I'll have to check and see if I can set a return URL at completion of a contribution or event registration process. This way I can send the user back to my link which sent them there.

Thanks for the quick response(on a Sunday night too). Now I'm just going to go a bit crazy trying to figure out where I remember that feature from :-[ The good news is that I can make it 1.8 that I implement

Its monday evening in Nelson, NZ :)

There is no redirect URL at the end of the contribution/event page process. You could potentially put a link in the thankyou_footer and give folks an option to return to the site where they came from. This will need to be a static link for now

Hmm, A static link in the Thank you page. Simple and effective. Each event registration would probably have come from a single specific location anyway, and while donations will come from diff locations, routing back to a single page shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks.

OK after a bit more digging thru CiviCRM for other reasons, I stumbled back on the feature that made me ask this question. It seems that my memory was partially right. There is a remote data collection option but it is not for making donations. It was a simple profile collector, so you could add people to the database. Still a good feature just not the one I was thinking of.

I know the question is old, but I figured I'd update it just in case someone finds this thread someday trying to do a search for something similar
