contact deleted - is there cascade of deleted activites?

Hi all, I discovered today that a contact record had been deleted. The record was for our staff person who enters activities for other contacts through the civicrm admin/backend.
The record deletion may have been accidental, I don't know (any thoughts appreciated).

But it appears that all activities that she created are gone as well.
She was the Creator of the missing activities, but she is NOT the person the activity is done to, and is NOT the person the activity is assigned to.

So, can deletion of an activity creator cause a cascade deletion of activities?

We are using CiviCRM 2.2.3 on Joomla 5.10

in 2.2.x and before it is an ON DELETE CASCADE constraint

I do think that this is a bug and deleting the creator should not delete the activities associated with the creator

can you please file an issue. we'll fix this for 3.0.1
