Putting a Relationship in with a profile?
August 20, 2007, 08:01:05 am
As you may know, I have two registration forms, one for a new organization and one for an employee of that organization.  I want to know how I can add a field to the employee registration form that would create the employee of organization relationship upon the form submission.  Any ideas on how to do this?

I know when I upload a set of data it is possible to match up a field from excel to the employee of organization relationship, so how can I do this with a form?

Thanks for your help!
Jen

Jen:

In CiviCRM v1.8,  we introduced this feature:

You mentioned in your response that I can now put the employee of relationship field in a profile with the new civi 1.8

How would I export the employee of relationship to a spreadsheet?  Is this feature available yet?  I'm still working with civi 1.7, btw :(

I know when importing contacts from excel to civi that there is a way to import the relationship, why isn't it that easy for exporting?

Jen:

There is no easy way to export relationships now. We hope to make it available in a future 2.x release. if super important to you, please consider contributing a patch and/or hiring someone to meet your needs. This might also be a good candidate for a BIRT report

I want to vote for this as something very important.

Right now I double enter a lot of relationship information as custom data so that it can be exported and searched easily.

i agree.  i'm using 2.0 right now and i'm frustrated by the inability to export relationships or even to show relationships in a profile for display.

hi

via custom search you can add the employer in the field. That's one of the provided custom search (and you have the detail on the blog/wiki if you need to customise)

You can add the Employer in the profile, works well (creates a new organisation if it doesn't exist or add the individual to the organisation if it exists)
