Confirmation email does not send after successful event reg

Hello-

Using CiviCRM 2.2.8

I am able to send emails through CiviCRM to people who have successfully registered for events using Sendmail as my outgoing server. CiviMail works as well. The registration process works fine...all data is being recorded. Yet I can't for the life of me find out or understand why my confirmation emails never send/arrive. I'm using the default settings for Sendmail that are in place when I choose Sendmail as my outgoing.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

can you check your mail logs and see what is happening? maybe the mail server is rejecting those emails?

Thanks for your reply! I'm unable to find my mail logs...sorry I know this isn't related to CiviCRM. I scoured and couldn't find any sites to help me with this. I looked for /var/log/maillog but didn't see anything in the var directory.
