Questions about Combining Drupal Views and CiviCRM Views
August 20, 2009, 12:54:15 am
I am trying to create a Node view that will display a CiviCRM Contributions view, as well as 2 Drupal nodes, included as attachments. I'd much rather just attach the nodes to a CiviCRM view, but that doesn't look possible. I'm still learning the Views module, but it seems there are different kinds of views, and none of them is able to take as attachments other types of view displays.

Maybe there is someone who can tell me more about this. Is it possible to combine a view of one type with fields from another? If not, is there better way? (I hope yes.)

civicrm objects are not connected to nodes. i suspect u cannot include the two in a view together. The only drupal table connected with civicrm is the user table.

What are the general limitations of combining the CiviCRM module with other Drupal modules like CCK and Views?

I see there are other modules in the Drupal Modules admin screen that are associated with CiviCRM the module (the first one on the list). Is there some instruction and why and how theses could or should be used?

check:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Drupal+Integration+Modules

there is a start of the documentation there. would be help if the community can step up and document these modules more. The info file gives you a one line description of what the module does

Not clear to me what the output is you are after - attaching nodes doesn't quite translate to me - do you mean you want to link to nodes - or have another 'view' attached within the view? A quick wireframe sketch might make most sense. We have been working with Views a fair bit - I don't recall any cases where we did not have the option to use a display type of 'attachment'
