How do I enable INNODB on shared host webserver
August 20, 2009, 08:12:17 am
I am planning to install the CIVICRM on my shared host server.

The CIVICRM has to have INNODB enabled.

Can I do that or does it have to be done by shared host support?

I have not started the installation this will be new Drupal website.

Can I do this from PHPMYADMIN?

How do I enable INNODB in MYSql?

You'll have to contact your hosting provider to discuss whether they can make that availalbe.
support CiviCRM through 'make it happen' initiatives!

Hosting support said it was available and I should do this...

"All you need to do to create INNODB tables is include TYPE=INNODB in the table create statement. My CMS installations create their own table structure, so I would think that if CIVICRM requires INNODB, the routines which create the tables will create them with TYPE=INNODB"

I typed TYPE=INNODB into the entry box, then I got a prompt for another numbered entry.  Heck, I thought I'd better start looking about before I screwed the pooch.

Got it working fine on my WAMP, because I have access to all the server side tools.

Maybe, if I got a "competent how to" I could send it to hosting server support they could do it.  I kinda get the idea they don't REALLY know how to install it.

Thanks
