civimail spool period - cronjob
August 24, 2009, 07:38:08 am
Hi,

I don't fully understand the working of the mailspoolperiod and mailer spool limit.
I've the following setup :
Mail spool period :  120
Mail batch limit : 4
mail spool limit : 2

Every 5 minutes there is a cronjob that hits the civimail.cronjob.php

I've 10 test mail-accounts (dummy-group)

I create a test newsletter and send it to the dummy-group.
The 4 first mail-accounts receive that mail.
After 5 minutes the next 4 mail-accounts receive that mail.
So everything is working, but what about that 120 seconds of the spool period en the spool limit of 2.
I thought that 2 mails will be sended and 2 mail will go into the spool table and will be sent after 120 seconds.
Am i thinking wrong or ... ?

Can somebody explain it to me ?

Thanks in advance.

petbos

the spool stuff (and settings) was an internal experiment which never got fully implemented and deployed (relying on my limited memory here)

I'll check with the team and if so, we'll remove those settings from the admin screens

So the mail batch limit and the time delay are the only settings that have any effect? If so that's good, as I didn't have a clue what a mail spool limit might be, nor could i find any useful documentation on it.
