Any Way of Creating Tags or Applying Taxonomy to CiviEvents?

I'm having good success building a Views 2 view and pulling in CiviEvents. Yay!

I'd love to apply tags to CiviEvents so I could filter by them in presenting the view. "Event type" isn't flexible enough since each event can only have one event type.

Is there a way to do this?

Currently no, but building a generic tagging / taxonomy system for different civicrm objects (contacts, events, contribution pages etc) would make a great contribution to core. This comes up on a pretty regular basis :)

You can potentially also build simple sub-type like functionality using custom data
