Multiple "donations" during membership sign-up

Hi there,

I know you members can make a contribution during sign-up.  But I'm wondering if we can allow them to make multiple donations.

Our organization has several programs, each of which tracks donations separately.  So for example, during sign-up, it would be ideal for members to have the option to donate any amount to one or multiple program.  Something like this (with the underline section being a text entry field for dollar amount):

Donate _______ to Foundation
Donate _______ to Museum
Donate _______ to Education

Is that possible?

not with current versions of civicrm.

Any suggestions on how to implement this if it were a hard-and-fast business requirement? (Which it seems to be.) Is hacking core the only way or would there be another approach for our developers?

This seems to be similar to "price set" type functionality (http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Price+Sets)

would be great if your developers can extend the contribution functionality with something similar rather than hacking core :) They can get in touch with us on IRC and we can discuss potential alternatives
