What is the Signup Process?
August 25, 2009, 08:03:15 pm
I have been working with CiviCRM for some weeks now and have a good basic understanding of it, but right now everything still seems like a giant jigsaw puzzle. I have the book, watched videos and so on. I have created an organization, a membership type and customized everything on the checklist in the admin section. What baffles me is how do i let people sign up to the site? Really this is for a political campaign and they want to do fund raaising. I've set up a campaign in Contribute and from the dashboard you can see it and donate...but still, i'm trying to figure out a clean signup process where users can go to a sign up page and we'll capture all necessary info from them (yes, I've added the necessary fields to a profile) and then have them sent to a donations page after sign up is complete. Our CiviCRM is added to Joomla and everything is of the latest versions. Can anyone tell me a coherent sign up process that would work for us? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have consider including profile with required fields for Contribution page? In this way you can directly collect information when people are contributing. If you want people to signup to your joomla website, you can also enable "Create CMS User" feature in profile.

There are a few ways to do this.  I think one of the easiest is to use the Name and Address Profile which should come with the install.  Look under Administer CiviCRM -> Customize -> CiviCRM Profile.  One of the options the profile provides is a standalone form.  This will give you an HTML form which you can incorporate into your site.

Alternatively, you can configure a zero cost basic membership and include this profile when configuring the signup page.  Like Kurund says, you can go into the profile (in Advanced Settings for the Profile) and configure whther or not you want the person to have a login to the Joomla.

Hope that helps

Roberto
