Transfering from localhost to another server
August 27, 2009, 06:20:31 am
I am  beavering away at home putting in data. I want to transfer this data to another installation. I do not want to upset that installation's URLs so I end up with broken links.

What tables in the DB should I leave out of the localhost DB export? I am trying to capture any new data which may have been added in tables.

The only files I will transfer would be CSS or xml ones. The installations are compatible.

Yes, thanks Karund. I have studied and used that and still have some problems with the site after the move. However my problem is that I just want to move the affected data and not change any URLs the system there is dependant on. I suppose I will have to go through the DB and try to determin what tables are going to be troublesome.

A good starting point in your venture: civicrm_domain holds the config with the URLs. I can’t think of any other tables containing URLs off the top of my head.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
