Inherited Membership problems
August 27, 2009, 09:59:42 am
I may be doing something completely boneheaded, but I don't completely understand the membership inheritance. I can give a Household a membership and all the Primary contacts will inherit the membership, but none of the member of relationships receive the membership. Same problem with Organizations, the primary contact inherits the membership, but not the employees.  Also I can get a household to inherit the memberships from a member, but other members of the household do not inherit. Am I missing some functionality or setting? I have heard mention of an update script, but I am using Joomla and cannot locate any script.

You haven't actually specified which relationships you are applying. Are you using 'head of household' or 'household of' etc.

The system has worked for us. So if an Organisation joins and the membership is based on 'employer of' then all contacts with that relationship get the membership.

I can get Head of houshold to work or household member of, but not both. It seems both should inherit the membership, but one would be the main contact for the household.

What I was attempting to do was have the Household inherit the membership from the head of the household, and then have all the household members inherit it from the Household. This way I can have the user maintain his membership via his own account, without him having to manage the household.
