CiviEvent registration with more than just emails
August 27, 2009, 03:33:29 pm
Hi everyone,

I could sure use your help on this one. I'm pretty stumped.

I'm using CiviCRM 2.2 on a Joomla installation. I want use CiviEvent to create a new, free event, and I want everyone who registers for the event to provide their first and last name, and telephone number, along with their email address (or be required to create a civicrm account).

I've read the CiviCRM book, tried the creating custom profiles stuff, etc., and still can't seem to figure this one out. The event announcement is coming up very quickly and I'm starting to panic, so I could really use everyone's help with some pointers on how I might be able to do this.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with how this works on Joomla but I guess it can't be too different from Drupal, in which case I think you want to do this:

1) Create a Custom Profile by clicking on Administer CiviCRM and then CiviCRM Profile
2) Click on "New CiviCRM Profile" and call it something like "Event Details" and used for "Profile" then save
3) Go back to Administer CiviCRM and then Manage Events
4) Go through steps 1-3 filling as you need
5) In step four - check the box "Allow online registration" and fill the other fields as you need
6) When you get to "Include Profile (top of page)" then select "Event Details" or whatever you called the profile and then continue with the rest of the steps as you need.

Once this is complete you should be able to test and go live. If you're having problems, please state in detail where you get stuck and what happens making it easier for others to help out! Hope its useful,

Adam
