Cron job not needed with civismtp?
August 28, 2009, 04:23:37 am
Maybe I am just confused.   I am moving Civi to a new server soon. The old one has a civimail cronjob setup, but uses civismtp for mail.  I am thinking now that the cronjob is not necessary with civismtp since I don't see mention of it in the docs.  Can you confirm please?  Do I need to call the civimail cronjob to make civismtp work?  Thanks.

Hi,

You will still need the cron job when you move to a new server.  The cron job is something that you set up that will occasionally tell your CiviCRM installation to check and see if there are any mail jobs that need to be handled. CiviSMTP is not related to this.

hope that helps,

-Shane
