PayPal Pro Broken
August 22, 2007, 08:30:59 am
The admin for one CiviCRM install I work with says he configured PayPal Pro and it worked for two days, then failed.

I tried resetting the "Processor Details for Live Payments" with new API info, yet the result is the same. I get either:

or:

Payment Processor Error message:
Client:

Just like that--no messages.

He happens to have installed "CiviCRM 1.8.beta.10790" via auto-installer. I suppose the first step is to upgrade to stable, but I don't see any notes anywhere as to whether there are any DB changes involved in this upgrade.

It's using PHP Version 5.1.6 BTW.

Can anyone enlighten me about any of the above?

Thanks.

Hello all,
the CiviCRM wiki indicates that....
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/PayPal+Website+Payments+Pro+and+Express+Configuration

As of Aug 20, 2007 - PayPal Payments Pro is apparently not compatible with PHP 5.2.3. If you are running 5.2.3 you will need to rollback to 5.2.0 in order to use PayPal Pro as your payment processor.

I also found a post on the Paypal SDK list, but there's no responses from the Paypal folks.
http://www.paypaldeveloper.com/pdn/board/message?board.id=api&thread.id=2593

Has this issue been resolved? I'm on a shared host and don't have the ability to roll back a version. I'm using CiviCRM 1.9.11960.

thank you in advance.

No, the issue has not been resolved. We suspect its a problem with paypal SDK and PHP SOAP and are reluctant to try to debug code that we dont know/understand

for 2.0, we have moved to paypal's new NV API

Understand - thanks for the response. I will assume that the authorize.net plugin will function with PHP 5.2.3?
is that a viable alternative?

thx,

We haven't had any reports of PHP version compatibility problems with Authorize.net.
