This is possibly at 3.0 issue, but I don't think so, so I'm posting it here.  Also, I figured it out for myself, so I'm just posting so the next person will find it when they search.

After upgrading civiCRM (from 2.2.2 to 3.0 beta 1) all my front-end profiles stopped working (except the one which was html code pasted into a Joomla module).  On investigation, I discovered that each of the menu item's that linked to the profiles no longer pointed to any profile, only to com_civicrm and no further.  I don't know, perhaps I missed a step in rebuilding menus during the installation.  Fortunately I'm only using 4 front-end profiles, so it wasn't much to simply make new menu items for each one, which solved the problem and got everything working again.  I opened the previous menu and copied the title and alias exactly into the new menu item, then deleted the original menu item, then saved the new item.  Everything worked perfectly, except one link was broken and I had to go and fix that.
