Multiple Particpants Tied to Price Set
September 05, 2009, 12:51:23 am
Hello Board,

Here's my dilemma, I am creating an event for a non-profit convention workshop. The participant has the ability to choose whether they want to stay in a Quad (4 person room) or Double (2 person room) those are labels assigned in the event fees. The part that has been racking my brain for a while now, is the following.

Participant chooses the Quad Price (4 people per room) - I would like for the Participant to somehow enter the roommates names, just the first and last. I don't want them registering them. Because it is assumed, they have or will register, and when I sort out the room list, I can match the data up later on.

I would like if the user chooses the quad price, then the users get 3 fields that pop-up to fill in with names if they desire so...if they choose teh double price...only one field pops up...suggestions???

Why not just give a single text/note field and get them to put 'the names of anyone you are planning to share with' in to it? Since you are still having to manually allocate the people it hardly seems worth the work involved to do the trickier option.

Yea, i tried all day that seems like the best option. It's just an eye-sore because the Event Fees with the listed option of Quad/Double are at the top...and I don't see a way to put the fields up top for the names, or move the event fees lower a bit.

I would think have the price set at the top and then lower down having an 'accommodation requirements' field or two where you ask for their room-mates and any other requirements would be fine esp if you are asking other workshop related questions

You could modify the template file and have a little javascript which shows the 2 additional fields when a user selects the quad option.
