Waived Registration for Plenary by Admin
September 08, 2009, 08:53:12 pm
I have been reading the document and forums for this an cannot not seem to come up with an answer.

We are using price sets for our event registration [1) member, non-member, and student rate, 2) CE fee, 3) other extras].

This works fine, but what is the option for allowing the admin to register a person and waive all fees (event registration but no contribution).  Since I am selecting the Participant Status to be something other than Attendee (say Speaker) - it seems (based on the Floss Manual) that I should be using a different profile for that Participant Status.  Not sure what I am missing.

Sorry if this is an obvious solution.

I dont think we handle the below scenario at all (either for price sets or regular event amounts either)

if u r interested in this feature, consider making a code contribution and/or sponsoring the development of the feature

I am very much interested in how our organization can contribute to the development of the product, but I want to make sure I am clear with my question - and not trying to recreate something already done.

In the Floss Manual under event registration it states:
Quote
...considering the all too common scenario of an organization waiving fees for certain attendees. This may be done because the individual is a V.I.P., a speaker, or is participating in the event in a limited way. Regardless, the organization will want to record the individuals involvement in the event by registering them, but may not want to create an associated financial transaction.

It seems that what we are tying to do is a common problem others face.  Are there are ways others have found to waive fees for certain attendees?

You can elect not to check the "record payment" box as indicated in the docs

in that case a financial contribution is not created.

However, we still store what you've chosen in the event_fee/event_fee_label column in the participant record, which is a bit misleading (IMO)

Ideally we should have workflow that allows you to grant folks a free seat via the backend

I can't find the "record payment" check box in the interface. Looking at the code, the check box is added "} else if ( !$form->_mode ) {" which doesn't mean much to me. :)

I am using paypal standard as the gateway, could that be the reason why?

Running event income reports shows these registrations as paid up as well.

Doesn't look like I can create a temporary free pricing level to use either.

Bumping this topic, since this is a very important scenario for me. Have anyone got a solution or a pointer to where to start looking?

thoni56:

can u reproduce what u r trying to do on our demo server and see what you get vs what you expect. If there is mismatch, please start a new thread, describing what you did and what you expected. This thread is a bit old and not sure what the issue is

thanx
