Using Civi 2.2.0 and Drupal 6.13

There are four records in the Administrators group and I want to remove three of them.

I check all three, go to Remove Contacts from Group and hit "Go." Behavior is as expected; system confirms three successfully removed. Return to Group page.

Two are removed, one remains as "Added." I edit the contact record, note that the contact is not listed in the Administrators group, hit "save" and return to Group page. Reload page. Contact is still listed as "added."

Manually remove the offending contact - system reports contact removed successfully.

Return to group page, the other two contacts that had been removed now come up as "added."

Result: contacts not able to be deleted from Group listing. There's obviously a real logic problem somewhere - looks pretty major to me.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I tried to reproduce - behavior is as expected on the demo site, so I don't have a clue here.

One difference I'm noticing: On my deployed site, when a contact is "removed" from the group, rather than simply disappearing from the list (as it does on the demo site and is expected behavior), the contact status changes to "Removed" in red and the listing persists.

Any ideas? Thanks much!

Sorry! Client error here.

Client accidentally set up one group as a subgroup of another, so when the request was made to remove contact from the master group (without removing it from the subgroup), Civi - most properly - didn't know what to do.

I de-associated the subgroup and everything behaves as expected.

I suppose one way to alleviate this scenario would be a check to see if the contact in question is already associated with a subgroup, in which case a message might be generated along these lines:

"Contact is also a member of the [subgroup] subgroup of [group]. Do you wish to remove contact from both groups?"

Of course, that's easy for me to say.

Sorry for the confusion here - perhaps this will help somebody else along the line...
