Importing old database into new Civicrm/civievent upgrade

Quick question - I just upgraded to the newest version of CiviEvent.  I had to completely rebuild my Drupal and CiviEvent site as my older versions were causing the site to crash/go down.
What I need to know is can one take the old information that they had saved in their old version of CiviEvent (I still have access to that database) and transfer all of that info. into the new version of CiviEvent?  If so, how do you do this?  Thanks!

you will need to upgrade the old db using the upgrade scripts to the new DB. However if the DB is corrupted and has inconsistent data, the upgrade might/will not succeed. There is no easy way of xferring old data into the new db directly
