Importing 0's and 1's as groups and tag
September 14, 2009, 07:08:25 pm
Hi All,

I need to import about 1600 contacts from a csv file that was created from a combination access DB and External MySQL DB.

I have about 100 custom fields that do not fit neatly into existing fields, but could be used as Group's or Tag's.

My question is - what do I need to convert the 0's or 1's to in order to import these contacts into Civi?

So if Column AA = SomeSpecialUseField and the field contains a 0, 1 or is empty. Should the records that need to be Tagged as
SomeSpecialUseField have that "value" or something else?

I have read other threads, but it's not very clear to me what it is I need to do. And in this case 1=yes coming from the AccessDB.

Thanks in advance!

Dallas

Hey Dallas - suggest you think from the other end of the telescope and set up some example data on civicrm and export - that way you know what the system is going to expect ;-)

Well - tried that - having difficulty exporting custom data fields using custom searches. Still trying to get me head around that one.  just thought if some already knew what I had to set the data type to that was being imported.  Guess I'll have to try and figure exporting custom data using custom searches.

Thanks for the advise..

I'll keep digging.

If your Custom Data fields are to be 'searchable' then they will appear under 'Custom Data' or whatever on Advanced Search

I had the default search results set to a specific profile I was using. I created a new profile that had all the fields I wanted to export, but could not get that visible in Administrator, Global Settings, Default Search Behavior (Flagged as Experimental in my 2.2.8 Install).

Yes- All my custom fields are set search-able.

But now - when I search for contacts, select All, Additional Actions and select Export on All Records and Click GO - I get a blank CiviCRM/Joomla page - no results.

Calling it a night.

Thanks for your direction.
