how to have members join for more than one year?

The membership fee is $X/year.  How can I set it up so the user can join or renew for 2 years?  Do I have to create two different types of memberships to handle this or is there an easier way like some field I am missing allowing users to select the number of years they want to renew or sign up for?

Many thanks.

Anybody?
