CiviMember Expiry Fixed Period 13 Months Not Working For Me
September 21, 2009, 02:10:43 pm
Hi,

I'm running Joomla 1.5.10 and Civi 2.2.3. It seems that if I set my membership period as fixed and duration to 13 months, it works as it's supposed to. A new member signing up Sept 22 will have a start date of Sept 1 and an end date of Sept 30 the following year, which is 12 and a bit months away. Perfect.

But when that member renews, their end date is extended to Oct 31, 13 months away.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks very much,
Phil

I might not understand what you mean but it sounds like working fine since you set up the duration to 13 months. The next membership will be start from 1st of OCT to 31st of OCT next year.

Yes, but if I set it at 12 months, a person enrolling on September 29 will have a start date of September 1 and an end date of August 31. I want their membership to go until September 30 in that case.

If I set it at 13 months, this is accomplished, but future renewals always end an extra month later than the last year (i.e. Sep 30/10, Oct 31/11, Nov 30/12, etc.).

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil

Now I understand what you want now.
You could probably create a form and use membership API(http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Membership+APIs) with some start date and end date calculation to add the new member but still set up 12 month membership duration setting.

Thanks Ruid,

Sounds like a good idea, and maybe even not too difficult, but a bit beyond me right now.

It might be nice in a future version if there were 2 separate options when you select your membership duration in the membership type area. The first option would be duration for new members and the second option for be for renewing members. That way, what I want to do could be done, and you could also do a 1 year initial membership with monthly renewals after that, or lots of other possibilities.
