Frond End Page Template Error with custom post type

We have created several custom post types in WP.  When we try to edit those, or add new ones, CiviCRM throws the following error:

"Please select a CiviCRM front-end page type.
Fatal error: Class 'CRM_Core_DAO' not found in /home/aviation/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm.php on line 548"

That error causes the edit screen load to fail and you are unable to add or edit the post, add tags/categories, etc.

Any suggestions for getting rid of that?  I'm stumped.

Someone, please help us! I have no idea what is happening and this is rendering some of my Wordpress admin features completely unusable.

Do regular posts work OK?

When creating a regular post I still get this message at the bottom of the screen: Please select a CiviCRM front-end page type.

This doesn't cause any functionality issues with Wordpress though.

The problem is when the fatal error appears.

For which operations does the fatal error appear? For creating a post of a custom type?

I guess it would be called a custom post.

My theme has the ability to create gallery posts and that's where the issue is. (see attached file)

Could this error be more of a conflict with the Wordpress theme than an issue with Civi?

I am so invested in my current theme, it would be a big deal to switch. I'm praying the theme developer can help me out.

MulderDSM, do you use a custom theme? Can you try changing that temporarily?

I too am having the same/similar issue when I attempt to resize/scale an image in wordpress:

I do not have the option to change themes. Any suggestions as to where I can begin to resolve whatever conflict is happening?

I'm getting the same error using WordPress 3.51 and CiviCRM 4.28. I tried changing my theme from MySiteMyWay to WP 2012 Theme and still get the same error.
