Smarty error after upgrade to 4.2.1
September 24, 2012, 03:07:52 am
Hi all,

Having Upgraded to 4.2.1 I get the following error:

User warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/Contact/Page/View/Demographics.tpl" in Smarty->trigger_error() (line 1093 of [MY PATH]\sites\all\modules\civicrm\packages\Smarty\Smarty.class.php).

Any tips?? I'm pretty sure that there shouldn't be a .tpl there, so I don't know why it's looking for it. I'll update if I solve it...

hey gavin:

can u delete templates_c and see if that fixes it

the upgrade code should do it, but seems like it might not have?

Thanks, Lobo..!

It did say it twice... After that change, it now only says it once! I guess that's progress?  :)

The folder has recreated itself - I presume that's supposed to happen?

Ah... Maybe this is a localisation issue... I forgot to re-add the translations folder...

I am, including Relationship and Summary for the Contact section... although removing them makes no difference.

I've got .tpls in the relevant directories... I tried removing the lot and it made no difference to the error  :)

I'll keep poking around...

Mmm... Well there are plenty of Demographics.tpl files

Including at:
sites\all\modules\civicrm\templates\CRM\Contact\Page\Inline

And, with a similar path to that in the error:
sites\all\modules\civicrm\drupal\modules\civicrm_engage\templates\CRM\Contact\Page\View

yes, but this file:

CRM/Contact/Page/View/Demographics.tpl

does not exist in 4.2 (but existed in 4.1)

hence i think its an old cached template. Also make sure you dont have two civicrm directories under your drupal modules. Drupal gets mighty confused about that

Ha - of course, that was the problem.

I had to remove my custom Contact/Page/View/Summary.tpl file, then remove the cached templates directory (templates_c).

Thanks again, Lobo!   :)
