Upgrading CiviCRM on an installation with MySQL binary logging enabled
October 19, 2012, 07:01:48 am
I hit an error this morning trying to upgrade CiviCRM from 4.2.1 to 4.2.4. The error is reported by MySQL as "You do not have the SUPER privilege and binary logging is enabled (you *might* want to use the less safe log_bin_trust_function_creators variable)" - it was a simple job to turn off binary logging on my testbed system, run the upgrade again, and then turn binary logging back on, but I guess some people may have problems doing that, either because they're on shared database hosting or because their production site mandates binary logging for some reason.

Either way, it might be good if the upgrade documentation made reference to this being an issue.
