Drupal upgrade 6 to 7 with civicrm 4.2 Beta5
January 28, 2013, 12:26:56 am
The current Drupal & Civicrm version am using is Civicrm 4.2.beta5 & Drupal 6.25.
I want to  upgrade Drupal version to 7.19 and i have done drupal core upgrade.  I want to know is there any way to upgrade all contributed & custom modules at once or each module can upgraded one by one?

After i completed drupal core upgrade Civicrm module not compatible with drupal 7.x. How we can upgrade this civicrm module?

Thanks in advance.

Your question about upgrading Drupal modules is a Drupal issue, not related to CiviCRM. That said, you can upgrade multiple modules at once, but sometimes that will fail--many modules also have specific instructions for the 6-7 upgrade so it's recommended to run one at a time.

Regarding upgrading CiviCRM see here http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC42/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+4.2+-+Drupal+7

I have upgraded all the contributed modules and custom modules. But civicrm module not get upgraded and showing message like 'This module not compatible with drupal 7.x'.

I believe that Civicrm 4.2 beta 5 compatible with drupal 7 then why it is saying not compatible?

I want to upgrade only drupal and using same civicrm 4.2 beta 5 , still i  need to upgrade?

Please advice on this.

You must get a fresh copy of CiviCRM 4.2 for Drupal 7. The version you have is for Drupal 6.

@Siv,

Did you ever resolve this? I'm in a similar situation, except that my intention is to reproduce the existing Drupal 6 site in Drupal 7 and import/reproduce nodes, as opposed to a D6 > D7 upgrade.

In this case, would the solution be to export the D6 4.x Civi database and then import it into the fresh 4.x D7 Civi install?

Any advice much appreciated - thanks!

Versions 4.1, 4.2 & 4.3 support drupal 6 & drupal 7 - however, you need to get the correct tarball as the drupal folder is different between the releases for the 2 versions.

You also need to edit the 'UF_NAME' in civicrm.settings.php - it is drupal for drupal 7 & drupal6 for ...

Thanks, Eileen - I got this one. I ended up using the update.php method as described in the docs, or more accurately, my wonderful hosting company (Imageleet) did it for me. The Civi DB was almost 1 GB, so they were better equipped to manage the database wrangling.

Changeover at 4.1.0 and then be very patient when doing the upgrade in D7 - I really thought the process had timed out.

I suppose a direct data dump might have worked (after changing the 'UF_NAME' from 'Drupal6' to 'Drupal', but I supposed I may never know.

Thanks... Happy Monday! :-)
