[FALSE ALARM] 4.5.0 "Add group" on Contact page should use a select2 control
September 30, 2014, 06:52:50 am
One of the nice features of 4.5 is the nice select2 controls for selecting Groups (eg, in Advanced Search) etc.

But on the Groups tab on /civicrm/contact/view, the old control is used. Can we please have the new select2 control? It would be great to be able to type in a few letters from the Group name and see the matching groups. As a bonus, multiselect would even be appropriate, because Adding multiple groups at once makes sense.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken, the Groups tab "Add to a group" selector definitely does use select2. So my guess is that you have a faulty script on your page that is crashing js and causing the select2 to not render. Can you check your browser's console for any error messages?

Coleman,

My bad. The select2 now works. Not sure what went wrong there. Sorry for the false alarm.

I have a related issue and if someone could give some insight please - The multi-selector works perfectly at the back-end but I am including a profile with groups at front-end and they appear as check boxes. The selector is helpful in this case because I am dealing with lots of groups.

Thanks!

Albert,

Are there any messages on the JS console, as Coleman observed?
