Can't Update Contribution Page Profiles
June 25, 2009, 10:31:55 am
On a Drupal 6 CiviCRM 2.2.6 site when editing the profiles included in a Contribution page, any changes made aren't saved. This DB was upgraded from 2.2.2 today and prior to that I believe it was actually upgraded originally from 1.8 or 1.7.

Anyhow, it appears that prior to today's update, there was only one profile include and now there are two and they are both set to that profile which was the old one, and we can't change them.

Any suggestions?

There were some issues in older releases with removing profiles from Contribution pages (or moving them from top to bottom). However AFAIK these were fixed - and a quick test in 2.2.6 allowed me to add, move and remove "Included Profiles".

You can check the data which defines this by browsing the civicrm_uf_join table - and potentially deleting any extraneous entries from this table. It "joins" profile groups (uf_group_id) to contribution pages, event reg pages and my account / user reg forms.

That was precisely the issue--I removed the relevant records from there (there were indeed multiple records for the two profile locations top and bottom) and it works fine.

Thank you.

So I have just hit this problem again on 2.2.6 - I tried replicating on demo by doing the following
- add same profile twice to Rainforest then Save
- reenter, remove duplicate profile Save
- reenter and confirm that duplicate profile is no longer showing, it has gone.

So there is some more complex process that occurs which fails to remove the duplicate profile. And it isn't anything as simple as only occuring with a 'copied' Event as I have tested that.

I will have a bit more of a dig to see if I can figure what the odd circumstances are - but thought I should note this in case others hit problem of not being able to remove a profile.

Just reporting back with a non-technical work around that might help others out - at least till more technical support is available.

Create a 'benign' profile - in this case we just created a profile called Thank You with a text field in it called - 'Any other comments?"

I wasn't able to duplicate this readily on drupal.demo.civicrm.org but I was able to duplicate it on a couple of 2.2.7 sites.

Here's a ticket: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-4790

You should be able to remove the extra entries from civicrm_uf_join via SQL.

I ran into this problem recently. Running 2.2.7. Is there a permanent workaround for this problem?

Removing the offending row in uf_join works ... except that the duplicate profile shows up again if the form is saved afterwards. As I am going through many edits, the persistent second duplicate profile is annoying. I guess I can live with it though.

I assume this recent fix is not in 2.2.8 either?

it will be part of 2.2.9 as the issue is marked so :)

If you need it now, please use patch your install:

I had this issue last week in 3.0.0 stable.   Had to delete records in SQL to fix

Another manifestation of the problem was that the list of Profiles that could be selected in Civievent was incomplete (ie new Profiles created do not appear in the drop down)

If you can replicate and document steps to recreate this on the public 3.0 demo and file an issue in the Issue Tracker, that would be most helpful!

a related problem with 2.2.6 and the contribute piece:
try editing the "help" box for a field in a profile - as you would normally when creating/editing custom data.
Now go to where the help field shows up (redundantly) in the Contribute module and check it out - it hasn't changed.

I had to delete the profile entirely and rebuilt it if I wanted to change the help field.

hey bob:

can u try reproducing this on our demo server (http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/), yes it is running 3.0, but if it is a bug, it might still be present. You can reuse the name and address profile
