Contribution from an Organization
October 26, 2009, 05:48:37 pm
In a prior post, it was stated that you couldn't include a profile that had Organization fields in a Contribution Page http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,8797.0.html.  I just wanted to verify that this is something new to 3.0  - I have an older test site running 2.1.1 that seems to allow this.

I realize that there are workarounds using custom data in Contact Fields but just wanted to make sure this is an actual limitation before creating the workarounds.

Thanks

The "recommended" approach for accepting contributions (or membership signup) "on behalf of an organization" - in 2.2.+ -  is to enable the feature by checking this box in Configure Contribution Page >> Title and Settings: [  ] Allow individuals to contribute and / or signup for membership on behalf of an organization?

Using this feature, individuals can indicate that they are contributing on behalf of an org - and then can fill out an extra set of fields with organization info. The contribution is linked to the Organization record, and the Individual is "related" as an "Employee of" the organization. Try it out on the public demo to see how it works.

Thanks, Dave.

I'll  try doing as you suggest.
