Error Upgrading from 2.29 to 3.02
November 01, 2009, 03:26:02 pm
I'm trying to upgrade a sub-domain (my test site) before upgrading my live site.

1.  I deleted the old sites/all/modules/civicrm directory and replaced it
with the new code.
2.  Changed the permissions on sites/default/files directory to make it writable.
3.  Browse to http://devtest.handson.org/civicrm/upgrade?reset=1 to run the
upgrade and get a message that I've already updated to 2.29.

Any ideas?

if i had to guess, most likely u replaces the civicrm code with the same 2.2.9 version and not 3.0.2

Nope.  To be doubly-sure, I re-expanded the tar file and re-uploaded it.  Could it have something to do with having a sub-domain?  My live site is still running 2.29.

i'm not sure i understand the sub-domain part?

I assume u have 2.2.9 running on the sub-domain and want to upgrade that code base to 3.0.2, right?

as long as you have the path/settings right, it should not make a difference. the error message seems to indicate that your are trying to upgrade a 2.2.9 site to a 2.2.9 site. so i would check the paths to ensure that they match the right version

Also make sure you didn't put a back-up copy of an older version of CiviCRM under modules - since Drupal will find all instances of *.module files and that messes things up pretty nicely :-(

Thanks to you both.  Hershel found a problem in the civicrm.settings file which we corrected and fixed the 2.29 reporting error but now I am getting this error.

user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource:
"CRM/common/dojo.tpl" in /home/handson/www/devtest/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php
on line 1094.

I am restoring everything from scratch and trying to delete the contents of www/devtest/sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c to see if I get the error again.

FYI - Just restored everything and ran the upgrade from scratch again.

Am getting this error message when I go to rebuild the menu.

user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/dojo.tpl" in /home/handson/www/devtest/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1094.

Any ideas?

I deleted the contents of that directory and still got the error message.  Do I need to delete the directory name as well?

I am restoring my test site again for the 3rd time.  If you have something new for me to try, please let me know.

Thanks,
Annalee

Annalee :
Can you delete your template_c folder directory itself, clear cache and logout/login and check again.

Tried that. No joy.

Keep getting this message.

user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/dojo.tpl" in /home/handson/www/devtest/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1094.

Could this folder be causing problems as well?  /www/devtest/sites/all/civicrm_templates

I see no file called:

templates/CRM/common/dojo.tpl

in CiviCRM 3.0.2. Seems this may be the issue here http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=10237.0 as well.

most likely you have not deleted your templates_c directory. you might want to check the paths again

Still no joy.  I deleted that directory several times and then Hershel went in and cleared it as well.  This is what I get when I return to the CiviCRM homepage.

user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/dojo.tpl" in /home/handson/www/devtest/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1094.
