Old topic revisited - Multi-site for Joomla
October 03, 2010, 04:53:35 pm
Hi,

I have read a lot of forum entries on multi-site config for Joomla.  The conclusion appears to be to keep sites separate.  That being said, I want to describe my situation and see if anyone has made it work in Joomla.

I have two joomla sites on a single hosted account.  One is for a non-profit called Seek the Lamb, which is primarily a blog and informational site for the ministry.  The second site is a child sponsorship program called Rio Coco Kids.  While the sponsorship program is affiliated with Seek the Lamb, we have created a separate site for branding purposes.

Ideally, I would like to have CiviCRM installed on both sites and share the CiviCRM database.  The Rio Coco Kids site will have contribution pages (the child sponsorship pages) as well as the ability to allow users to donate.  The Seek the Lamb site will allow for donations as well as allow us to manage events.  Both sites will run email campaigns.

It appears there is no method supported to allow two Joomla sites to share a CiviCRM database, but I wanted to see if anyone has attempted to do so, or if there will ever be plans to allow for this.  I suspect the answer is no, but would love to hear differently.

Thanks!
David

I reposted something similar to this.  I have a similar situation.
