CiviSchool for School Program registration
November 23, 2010, 08:50:21 am
We are looking into implementing CiviSchool for a small specialized pre-school which also offers summer camps. We are hoping to follow these steps:
1. Parent registers
2. Parent registers their children
3. Parent signs up children for programs / events.

If necessary (as seems to be the case with the SFS implementation), we could import the Parents and Children but would like to implement forms that enable parents to view their children's information and register them for programs.

So far we have installed and enabled CiviSchool and can see all the new contact types, relationships, etc. but have a few questions:

- In the CiviCRM menus there are no extra tabs e.g. the School Tab referred to in http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=15122.0.  How can we enable this tab and are we missing other options that should have been installed?

- How do we access the forms located in the sites/all/modules/sfschool/SFS/sfschool folders?

Any information or pointers would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Donald Lobo

1. i'm assuming u downloaded the latest version from svn:

http://svn.civicrm.org/sfschool/branches/v3.2/

recently. If so, when u goto q=civicrm, you should see a top level school menu item in the navigation bar

2. that menu item basically invokes the various forms/pages in the SFS folder

3. might be best to jump on IRC and ask questions so we can help u get going. however this week we'll not be present a lot in IRC (due to the holidays), but u can try :)

lobo,

Thanks very much for your quick reply.  I thought we were missing something! We downloaded CiviSchool from branches/3.2 on Nov 18th, installed and activated the module in Drupal but something must have gone wrong if we don't have the School option in the CiviCRM navigation menu.

We will re-install to see if it fixes the problem.

tcloud,

I'm currently looking to do something very similar for a volunteer-based kid's music organization which offers weekly group classes, weekend workshops and summer camp programs.

I've never implemented CiviCRM (just found it on the web) and I'm wondering what your experience has been with CiviSchool - easy/hard to set-up and administer, how much customization did you have to do, what features are missing/need significant development.

I'm currently fixing a bunch of custom asp.net code that someone wrote for them to manage memerships and program enrollments and it taking more time than my real job.

Any insights you have would be appreciated,
jdg
