CiviCRM 3.3.0 install error
December 05, 2010, 08:28:50 am
Ok, Finally got CiviCRM installed after lots of tries, and changing some server settings.

Now, I get an error on the dashboard home page in Drupal:
user warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/jquery.files.tpl" in ..../sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093.

So, this should be looking for those files in templates/CRM/common, instead of just /CRM/common.

If you disable CiviEngage, it works.

I have seen a few others post about this issue, but no fix has been discussed, yet.

So, for now, let's just disable CiviEngage, and wait for a path fix on this.

Re: CiviCRM 3.3.0 install error - CiviEngage

I reported this error here: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,16278.0.html - in 3.3.0, I'm now just seeing the Civi page crash if CiviEngage is enabled.

I'm using Civi Theme, which needs to be patched for it to work at all - see here: http://drupal.org/node/947520#comment-3791140

With Civi Theme working, using Garland as the Civi theme and CiviEngage enabled, the Civi page loads with the header of my base theme and the page title (CiviCRM Home) - that's it. The rest of the page is blank.

This is a fresh install - I'm marking this with an exclamation point as CiviEngage is still not usable. Yikes!

I don't think this is related to civicrm theme module.

Filed http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7169

Probably not, but just trying to be thorough, just in case. Glad to see you're on this one!

Isn't the CiviEngage module deprecated with CiviCRM 3.3.0, since CiviCRM 3.3.0 has the CiviCampaign component?

No

We hope to get enough funding (via a Make It Happen for 3.4) to add campaign features to CiviEngage

I think it is obvious that there is a path error within CiviEngage.

Basically, the path should be templates/CRM/common, but the system is pointing to CRM/common, which doesn't exist.

What's the point in that?

CiviCampaign does not have most of CiviEngage functionality, specifically WalkList and PhoneList reports

Thank you for the clarification. Why not build CiviEngage functionality into CiviCampaign instead of the other way around?

We've not decided on a approach as yet, apologies if i gave that impression. This project is currently on hold till an organization(s) steps forward to sponsor it. 3.4 / 4.0 is quite packed right now and also on a short schedule

The 3.4 / 4.0 make it happen blog post is here: http://civicrm.org/blogs/eileen/whats-happening-next-make-it-happen

It seems I can't post to http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,16278.0.html "Upgrade error - Smarty.class.php on line 1093" so I'm posting here:

I just upgraded a site from 3.2.5 to 3.3.5 and am getting
Code: [Select]
Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/drupal.tpl" in /home/fen/workspace/civicrm/v3.3.5/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093.
I get a blank CiviCRM page.  AFAIK, CiviEngage is disabled (we never enabled it).

Not the expert here, but if you have a civicrm_engage module in your modules folder, I'd try removing it and see if the error persists.
