Batch Updating via Contribution Profile
June 17, 2011, 04:28:34 pm
Hi , I created  contribution civicrm profile, however when I go to batch update the recent contribution results by the "batch update via contribution profile" I get the message : "You will need to create a Profile containing the Contribution fields you want to edit before you can use Batch Update via Profile. Navigate to Administer Civicrm >> CiviCRM Profile to configure a Profile. Consult the online Administrator documentation for more information. " Doesn't make sense since the profile is already confgured. Is it possibly because I placed custom data fields in the contributor profile? Any help appreciated.

Does your profile have contribution related fields like contribution type etc. What fields do you have in your profile.
Can you please replicate the same on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org

Thanks
Kurund

Kurund, thank you for your response. It may take a bit of doing to re-create everything as you request, as there are several custom data fields, and then other fields from the contribution fields pulled into this profile I created. I could offer username etc over skype if you'd like to take a look, I'm double-checking everything right now just to make sure the profile is active, configured, ec. I can't see why it won't pull it when I have the results and select the batch update option, it should just be right there and not give me that message, right?

to clarify, the contribution fields in the profile are :
Amount Label
Contribution Type
Paid By *
Please Select Your Method of Payment
Total Amount *
Receive Date

the rest are member info: custom date fields.

pls tell me if that doesn't make sense

latest thing on this...i stripped all the individual fields out and just left the contributions field in the contribute profile, so I run the search by contribution type, get the list of contributors just fine, then go to do the batch update and that same message urging me to create a contributor profile...the profile is active and all the fields are there ....just so weird.

Can you make sure custom data included in profile is of type Contribution. If not you will have to remove that custom data and check again.

I disabled the custom data fields but I still get this message : You will need to create a Profile containing the Contribution fields you want to edit before you can use Batch Update via Profile. Navigate to Administer Civicrm >> CiviCRM Profile to configure a Profile. Consult the online Administrator documentation for more information.

Ultimately what I want is the contribution / custom data fields side by side so they can be updated by administrators one after the other.

wonder if it's one of those contribution fields in the profile I created that's gumming up the works?

this definitely looks like configuration error. So I would suggest you to create new profile with only contribution form and check if that works.

Hi, getting back to this, I cleared the individual custom data fields from the contribution profile that so that it would allow batch update of contributions via profile under a search generated by find contributions. this now happens, but the issue of how to update those various custom data fields for individuals who have made a contribution remains. I could presumably do it from the regular old advanced search in civi...but there it appears that the fields that can be loaded for batch update via profile don't include all the fields from the profile. how do i get all the custom data fields to appear in the batch update via profile, including any recent contributions, is there actually any way to do this?

found this in the en floss, it does seems possible , http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ch012_profiles/ just can't quite get the correct configuration : ".. in some cases, such as online event registration and online contribution pages, you can combine fields from two different record types (e.g. Individual + Participant fields or Individual + Contribution fields). You can also combine Individual fields with general Contact fields (e.g. Last Name + Email Address)..."

any help with this greatly appreciated!

Can you check if batch update via profile works fine without custom data. You cannot update contact/member information.

Yes, I was able to configure the profile with just the contribution fields....hard that we cannot update the individual or contact fields alongside them, that would be very helpful...any ideas on how to custom code around it...would there be a way to set up some sort of form?
