New installed CiviCRM 4.1.5 does not work
July 11, 2012, 09:17:01 am
As you can see at the clip, I made, I have installed a brand new Joomla 2.5.6 and a brand new CiviCRM 4.1.5.

As you probably can see, it does not work. There is no top menu and CIVI can not generate the dashboard.

I have install CIVI as prescribed and I've tried it all twice.

Can someone help me?

Rudy

1. Can you logout and log back in

2. Can you use firebug and see what the issue might be

3. can you get to other screens? like the search screen etc

Post your MySQL and PHP versions and like lobo said, load the page in Firefox and use Firebug and look in the Net and Console tabs for any errors or missing files.

I can logout of Joomla and in again, no probs.
When I use Firebug to find out some thing I really don't no what to look for. And yet I found a DB-error (see attached file).
I can use the seach field at the left top and it works fine.

Can you enable debugging and then do that again? You also also right click on that URL in Firebug and "open in a tab" or some such and see more clearly the returned code.

I'm sorry! But I'm lost  :'(

Why can't a brand new installation just work. My configuration of my computer is nothing special. I run Windows7, the newest browser Firefox, MSEI and Crome. I have a server supplier that is a specialist in Joomla and runs the newest software (redHost.dk) and my installations of Joomla is 2.5.6. and CiviCRM 4.1.5. What could possibly be wrong?  >:(

It's hard to say what is wrong without more data. But the fact that your host is an expert in Joomla doesn't make him an expert in CiviCRM. Please note that the About CiviCRM page mentions the advantage of using a host "with experience hosting CiviCRM."

CiviCRM is a unique package and has requirements that are not the same as Joomla.

Of course I am aware that CiviCRM is a major component and it requires a lot of performance and other requirements. But I actually have a CIVI installation running on the same provider, and it runs fine. Therefore I do not understand why it suddenly has to be different with this installation.

Then the server should be OK. Can you enable debugging and run it again as I suggested above?

Good point. Not sure what to tell you. I would try it fresh--remove the files and put fresh ones, just to make sure, and install again.
