Joomla > from 3.4.8 to 4.1?
August 12, 2012, 04:44:13 am
Hi... I'm using Joomla 1.5.25 and Civi CRM 3.4.8.

I would like to upgrade Joomla and CiviCRM to Joomla 2.5.6. and Civi CRM 4.1

Is there any tutorial for that?
I need to maintain the information of my members.

thanks

Hi. If you Google for "upgrade joomla" the third result is Migrating from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 and if you Google for "upgrade civicrm" the second result is the Installation and Upgrades page from the wiki.

The first issue regarding Joomla is not really relevant here, as this is the CiviCRM forum. But if you have any questions about the second page, just ask here.

I followed this:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Upgrade+Joomla+Sites+to+4.0

I've creating a new website on a different root and a different db:
example... www.mywebsite.com/test

Now I have Joomla 2.5.6 and CiviCRM 4.1.5

but now I don't understand how can I migrate my members from old Civi CRM to new CiviCRM.

Is there a particular guide?
thanks

A guide to what? If you upgraded your site, then all the members are already there.

If your new site is a different site than your old site, then you can Export your data from the old and then Import into the new.

I'm really sorry... I'm a bit confused.
I'm trying to start again...

I have mywebsite.com (joomla 1.5.26 - CiviCRM 3.4.8.) and mywebsite.com/update (before I installed a new versione of Joomla and CiviCRM but now I try to copy my old site and upgrade joomla and CiviCRM).

I'll let you know if I have a problem.
Sorry and thanks for support

I think the fundamental disconnect is about how Joomla migrations occur from 1.5 to 2.5. To get to 2.5, you build a completely new site. If the JUpgrade utility works for you, which I have never gotten it to work, the new site uses tables in the old DB that have a new prefix. JUpgrade may, potentially, migrate the CiviCRM tables. I have never gotten it to work, so I can't comment.

The other method is SP Upgrade which only does:

Users
Articles (along with their Sections and Categories)
Contacts
Web Links
News Feeds
Banners
Images
Menus
Modules

So that leaves you with all of your CiviCRM data stuck in an old DB tied to a 1.5 site that you are replacing.

Unless someone has a better idea, the only path I see is exporting all of the data from the old and importing it to the new.

Am I missing an easier method?

What you can do is install CiviCRM on your new 2.5 and then use MySQL (phpMyAdmin perhaps) to move the old tables from the old install to the new. Then all your data is there. You may have to then run the CiviCRM upgrader if it's a different version. See here http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location for more details

thanks for information.
I didn't it but I migrated old tables and then I upgraded the new version of CiviCRM.

Now I have a new version of CiviCRM and everythings works well on my backend but on frontend I have error CiviCRM 101.
Any CiviCRM menu item I create results in a "CiviCRM-001" error page.

Could it be the result because I didn't what you suggest?

Thanks

Please Lobo's response, which is before your post there.
