Custom Text Fields Don't Show Up in Report Building
January 13, 2013, 11:42:47 am
Hi,

Is it possible for custom text fields to show up in the report builder?

My client needed data in a table with the following columns: Name, Email, custom field 1, custom field 2.

This was simple for me to do in Views, but the client would prefer to create the reports herself in Civi as she has been able to do for many fields, but not custom text fields.

Thanks,

Shai Gluskin

Hello Shai,

Custom fields only show up in the report builder if they are set to searchable. To find this out, go to Administer-->Custom Data and Screens-->Custom fields. Find the set that contains your custom fields, and select view and edit custom fields. Find your custom field and check to see if it is searchable. If not, that is more than likely your issue. select edit field, scroll down to where you see "Is this field searchable" and check the box, then select save. you should now be able to see your field in the Constituent Report (detail) Report Criteria section.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jason

Hello Jason,

I have the same problem as Shai. I have checked my custom field is indeed searchable, and it shows up on the Constituent Report but only as a criteria and not on the resulting list.
In particular I need it to show up on the Membership Report (Detail).

Is that possible?

cheers IHR

Hi ihr,

I'm having the same issue and hopefully there's an easy fix.  I'm running the latest CiviCRM on Joomla 2.5.9 and I have created a few custom fields on members:

  • a Yes/No on if they are a member of our national association
  • their membership number, if the answer is yes

We need to produce a report on this, on active members only (not constituents), to be submitted on a regular basis to our insurer as they need to know this information.  I was hoping I might be able to set up a report in CiviCRM to do this but it seems like, for some reason, one cannot report on custom fields for memberships.

Have you been able to fix the issue on your system?  Any ideas/help would be appreciated as I'm pretty new to CiviCRM.

Curious if any of you found a solution for displaying custom fields in reports? I have the same issue as above and was surprised to see that displaying custom fields wasn't available in my civireports. Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks for your reply, I found a more relevant thread and am troubleshooting this there: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,26250.0.html

Sorry for redundancy. Civicrm 4.3.1  Yes they are set to searchable. I have setup my example case in the demo as mentioned in the thread above. Thanks.
