Online Contribution Form for Memberships

Forgive me - I'm still working through a CiviCRM Wordpress install...

My question is (and I'm noticing the same behavior on the WordPress-Civi demo site) Is when a user completes a registration form, they are not added as a member under "Memberships". They do however have a "Contact" record created

Is this a WordPress shortfall?

Just need to be sure we are using the term 'member' or 'contact' and 'registration' or 'membership' correctly to avoid confusion.

What are your users 'registering' for?

Are they purchasing a Membership via a Contribution Page (which would make them a member)

Or are they filling in a Profile - which would just be adding them as a contact.

then you might need to attach some screenshots of your Membership tab from the Contribution page - or the Membership Price Set (to help us ascertain what might be missing) if you are saying that having 'purchased' you are not finding them under 'find members'

but yes this might be a WP bug but would think others would be screaming about it if that is the case

Thanks Pete - Will get screenshots shortly. Although, the same behavior is happening on the WordPress demo site

Then logging in with demo/demo, the membership record isn't created

FYI, if you are creating a test membership, it will NOT show up under a contacts record.

You can only find those in a Find Membership search and choose "Test memberships" only checkbox

Thanks Pete and Lobo...Just getting back to this now after getting side tracked with another project. Unfortunately my issue is still present

I'm at a loss - I'm a newbie but am getting a good handle on this WordPress/CiviCRM site I'm working on but I still can't for the figure out why when a user registers on the site

That a Contact record gets created but not a Membership record. Important to note that in Test-Drive mode the Membership record gets created. I figure I'm missing a setting n the configuration OR forcing the user to create a WordPress account is causing an issue

Any help would be appreciated and I would gladly give someone Temp admin access to take a look :)

Looks like you are asking them to 'pay later' - if so, is it creating a Contribution that is set to 'pending' - if so what happens if you reset the payment to be Completed?

I did wonder if I had spotted that a 'pay later' membership was only resulting in a Contribution record showing on the Tabs but not the memberships one - if so I think that is a change of behaviour.

Hi Pete,

It is indeed creating a Contribution that is set at 'Pending'. I reset the payment to 'Completed', Ran the Cron but there was no change

Thanks again Pete - I will test on the Demo site as you suggested, and just noted that if I don't enable the WordPress account creation option everything works as expected

that sounds like a good find - so the process all works fine for anon without account creation - but partially fails if you require them to make a WP account?

As well, I tried to go through the process using the WordPress CiviCRM 4.2 Demo Site but even on the demo site I can enable the " WordPress Account creation required" option but it actually won't even take effect on the actual Registration form
