Autocomplete fields broken after upgrade to 4.4.1
November 18, 2013, 08:12:54 am
Title says it all - I upgraded to CiviCRM 4.4.1 on Joomla 2.5.16 and autocomplete fields, like search contacts or in a contribution form (for soft credit) no longer bring up search results.

Checked directories and permissions - all are as they should be.

Who does this affect? Logged in users with Access CiviCRM permission? I do feel like I saw a ticket / discussion on this for Joomla! but thought that was fixed for 4.4.1

penguintrax, can you check in Firebug for Firefox for any errors? Or in the Net tab for any odd returned code?

Here's the feed from the Net panel in firebug.

It's weird because I have Cloudflare specifically disabled for the admin area of the site, yet the server says cloudflare-nginx. I wonder if that's the problem.

Thoughts?

Nothing looks wrong in what you posted. You should see a lot of requests under the All sub-tab. Take a look at those for anything funny.

That was pulled from the ALL panel in the NET tab.

here's the Inspect Network Request displayed values:

So, I generally use the page to do the debugging - ie. load http://www.theipca.org/administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/ajax/rest&className=CRM_Contact_Page_AJAX&fnName=getContactList&json=1&context=navigation&s=belcher&limit=10&timestamp=1384800959985&fieldName=&tableName=cc in the browser.

Perhaps you need the 'Access Ajax API' permission. I assume this user gets a result returned from the QuickSearch typing in belcher?

If I press <enter> to search, I do get a result - it's just the autocomplete that is not working. So, search is fine it's just that lookup thing.

I used the link you posted and got this result:

Code: [Select]
{"IP":"67.233.172.31","level":"security","referer":"http:\/\/www.theipca.org\/administrator\/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm\/ajax\/rest&className=CRM_Contact_Page_AJAX&fnName=getContactList&json=1&context=navigation&s=belcher&limit=10×tamp=1384800959985&fieldName=&tableName=cc","reason":"CSRF suspected","is_error":1,"error_message":"SECURITY ALERT: Ajax requests can only be issued by javascript clients, eg. CRM.api()."}
which doesn't look good, but is outside my skill level to interpret.

Yeah - ignore that bit - doesn't seem to be helpful in debugging this. Does your user have all permissions to CiviCRM?

Yes, I'm the one and only superadmin. I added ACLs for search, edit, etc. as a test and the problem isn't fixed.

it would be nice if the ACLs were carried forward between upgrades. I have to remember to screenshot / write down the ACL settings before I upgrade Civi.

OK - but as super admin do you actually have ALL permissions on the permissions screen (not the ACL screen - the one that says things like 'Access All Events', 'Delete Contacts', etc)? I know in drupal sometimes new permissions aren't set.

Yes, Joomla ACL has full Civicrm permissions to all functions.

Maybe this is stating the obvious, but I'll say it since it solves ~90% of post-upgrade issues:
- clear your templates_c folder
- clear your cms cache
- clear your browser cache
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Thanks Coleman, but that did not fix it.
