return path not working
April 19, 2008, 05:39:52 am
On my recent installation I can send mail using CiviMail but my return path is not working. I get no replies, unsubscribe requests aren't doing anything, etc.

My hosting provider says SOAP libraries are installed. When I call up the soap.php page on my browser, I get a blank white screen.

thanks for any help

I got one opt out, which changed the record in the db as it should have, but my replies aren't coming through. This was with the "forward replies" option checked in CiviMail for the mailing.

I believe this is a bug in civicrm. where the reply to address is dropped and the mail does not get sent.   I have a patch for 1.9  but i do not know how it might affect 2.0

lobo,

was this problem reported / addressed?  I have done a search for it but do not see it.

    • CiviCRM site
  • CiviCRM version: 4.2+

it is definitely fixed in 2.0. I'm not too sure about 1.9 (i suspect not).

However any recent install of CiviCRM should be using 2.0. Installing 1.9 is not a good idea considering our support policy and the number of improvements that 2.0 brings with it

The autoresponder feature is working on my setup (civicrm 2.0.2), but not the "forward replies" to the from address. Any clues would be appreciated, as I would like to use this feature.

I just tested the feature on 2.0.2 and it worked fine.  I also inspected the code and the patch is in 2.0.2. The code in question is located in the file CRM/Mailing/BAO/Mailing.php  on line 1085

I am not sure what could be wrong in your installation.

The report for the mailing shows that replies were made, but they're not making it back to me. Can you think of which settings I should check?

In step 6 of the how-to on setting up CIVICRM for the relay (http://civismtp.uas.coop/drupal/node/1) it asks for the email domain, the "domain you used for configuring your MX records." I used the subdomain, newsletter.soilcarboncoalition.org, and perhaps that was not correct?

thanks

newsletter.soilcarboncoalition.org  is configured correctly.

I do not know what else could be wrong with the installation.

be sure that you are running the latest version of civicrm.

and i received it successfully.

I really do not know why your replies are not coming through.  did you yourself install civicrm?

I wish I could tell you what was wrong.  2.0.2 does work.  maybe try a test installation.  you can change the smtp account information to use your tests settings easily enough.

peace,

-Shane
